Featured in Cornwall Live as Part of Pixel Penzance: A Community of Creators
This week I was delighted to be featured in CornwallLive as one of the many freelancers now calling Pixel in Penzance my work home. As a freelance marketing consultant, I have been working from Pixel for the past few months, and it has quickly become more than just an office. It is a community.
After almost a decade of working from home, I was ready for a change. During the early days of Covid, many of us enjoyed the novelty of working from home while squeezing in a load of laundry between Zoom calls. But the appeal wore off. I found myself craving a professional space without the office politics, somewhere I could focus, feel inspired, and still connect with others. Pixel offered exactly that.
“Places like Pixel are important. You can feel that you’re in a professional office space but without the office politics. It feels like creatives are coming out of hibernation and finding their people.”

Pixel: Breathing New Life into Penzance
Pixel is not just a workplace. It is a landmark for the town. Built on the site of a former car park at the top of Causewayhead, the building was designed by award-winning architects Stride Treglown. With three floors of coworking areas, studios, and modern desk spaces, it offers everything from light-filled shared studios for makers to flexible desks with enviable views of Penzance harbour.
Perhaps most importantly, Pixel has become a catalyst for Penzance’s renewal. At a time when high streets across the UK have struggled with empty shops and dwindling footfall, Pixel stands out as a bold intervention. It is not only creating space for creative enterprises, it is also bringing people back into town, boosting local businesses, and reshaping how we think about the future of our high streets.
Why I Love Working Here
For me, working at Pixel has been transformative. I love the balance it strikes: a place where you can be completely focused on your work but still feel connected to the wider community. There is an energy here that you simply do not get working alone at your kitchen table.
Pixel has also transformed the area around Causewayhead. What was once a scrubby corner of town is now filled with murals, planters and light. The building feels deeply rooted in Penzance’s independent and creative spirit. It is modern, bold and optimistic, just like the town itself.
As a marketeer, community is everything. At Pixel, you feel like you are part of something bigger. It is a creative revival for Penzance and a space where businesses and freelancers can grow together.
